BRUTwestival is also grateful to James Drew, Andy Carling, Lee Ober, Colin Moors, Ian Macy, Davis Gangoo, José Prista von Bonhorst and guest speaker Andrew Stroehlein.

And yet more thanks must go, too, to previous organiser Christian De Neef for, among other things, answering every annoying question we had to ask him!

Despite the day falling at the same time as a general strike and a European Summit, the Twestival Fair at the Radisson Blu Hotel was a great success. Especially given how little time we had to organise it.

The team @Radissonbrussel were absloutely superb and gave us everything we wanted and more.

Later, down @sixnationspub, Phil and his team looked after us brilliantly and fed us well, too.

Thanks to those guys and gals at both venues!

It is fair to say that, probably due to the strike, very few 'local' actually came out to join us and therefore, the evening at the pub was attended mainly by people who had been at the fair.

This was unfortunate and a shame and effectively meant that, if we hadn't organised the afternoon event, we would have had a fairly low-key evening bash.

So thank heavens we organised the fair. It was in every way well worth it.

There was even a little bit of second-hand TV coverage for the event, which you can see here - http://tinyurl.com/5sf5fvp - while we also were given coverage by several local media outfits prior to the event.

And may we express our gratitude lso to those of you who tweeted the evnt and put up posters.

We'd also like to say a big 'thank you' to those of you who attended either (or both) event, despite the potential transport chaos. Because of you, Europe's Children Our Concern can look forward to receiving in the region of 800 euro in total.

This figure is obviously less than we had hoped for but, against the clock and with the strike disrupting transport across the city, we can be justly proud of our efforts.

Many thanks again

BRUTwestival Team

The venues are confirmed, the charity is approved, the fair is gathering steam and…the tickets are now on sale for the 2011 Brussels Twitter Festival and Fair – BRUTwestival.

Go to http://www.amiando.com/Twestival2011_brussel.html

The events

From 3-7.30pm, on Thursday 24March, at The Radisson Royal Blu Hotel in downtown Brussels, you can come along FREE to the Twestival’s Twitter and Social Networking event, featuring around 20 stalls from local businesses and social groups in and around the city.

Businesses can find details of how to sponsor the event lower down.

Meantime,  take a look at the venue here: http://www.radissonblu.com/royalhotel-brussels

With several stand-up speakers, free wif-fi, global live streaming and a networking bar area, all in the cool surroundings of this excellent hotel, this is the perfect start to an evening of fun at two newly opened venues.

From 7.30pm, just five minutes’ walk from the hotel, The Six Nations pub and restaurant will be looking after us. A Twestival ticket will entitle you to a free beer or glass of wine AND some snacks for those turning up early.

If you miss the snacks, there’s a full menu available at the venue. Burgers and more, great! More at http://www.sixnations.be/menu.html

From 10.30pm onwards, just 20 metres across the street, soon-to-opened DJ bar Rooster’s will be hosting music and dancing till….whenever. At this venue, your Twestival ticket will entitle you to a FREE cocktail.

Not only that, but BRUTwestival ticket-holders will be among the first to set foot in this brand-new addition to the Brussels night scene.

So, to the tickets… We recommend that those wishing to come along and party pay a minimum of 5 euro per ticket online in aid of our chosen charity – Europe’s Children Our Concern (ECOC).

And you can find out more about ECOC here: http://www.ecoc.be/en/home.php

We look forward to a great day and night on Thursday 24 March, so book your tickets now! http://www.amiando.com/Twestival2011_brussel.html

And don’t forget to Tweet your mates.

How to get involved as a sponsor - there's still time!

Sponsorship/Fair packages come in three varieties.

Sponsorship 1 - Main sponsor (two slots) – Euro 750

Our two main sponsors will have the largest space at the fair and a visual presence in the bars afterwards. Their logos etc will appear most visibly on all posters and flyers currently being designed for distribution and they will be named in all press releases in the run up to the event.

Should the company wish to supply a speaker for a short slot at the fair, then this can be arranged.

As part of the package, the main sponsors will have ten tickets to the evening events included. These will be bought separately by the organisers through our ticketing agency to ensure transparency.

Sponsorship 2 – Euro 275

Again, our sponsors’ logos will appear on all literature (smaller than the main sponsors) and they will be entitled to 2 tables at the Twitter Fair. A speaking slot can also be arranged in most cases.

As part of the package, five Twestival tickets will be included.

Sponsorship 3 – Euro 150

This third tier of sponsorship is reserved for smaller businesses and those organisations deemed to be of social value to citizens rather than mainly commercial. Again, space will be made available at the Twitter Fair for their profile-raising activities.

As part of the package, 2 Twestival tickets will be included.

Payment from sponsors will be via invoice.

Where the money will go

Our chosen charity is ECOC – European Children Our Concern (http://www.ecoc.be/en/home.php) and has been offcially approved by the Twestival organisers).

Note: The Twestival organisers have a policy of strict transparency and ALL ticket sales, donations and profits will go to the chosen charity.

Sponsorship monies will be partly used to pay expenses (some drinks, DJ, hire of microphones, printing materials etc) with the remainder again going to the charity.

So, what next?

Time is of the essence and space is limited, so please get back to the coordinator with any questions at all either at tony.mallett@gmail.com This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , via Twitter @upfrontbrussels or by phone on 0472 280 878.

Brussels Twestival First Announcement

March 1st, 2011 Comment

Hi Tweeps

OK, this year we're going to really push the boat out. As well as a party night we're also holding a Twitter Fair at the very friendly and utterly gorgeous Radisson Blu Royal Hotel in downtown Brussels (http://www.radissonblu.com/royalhotel-brussels).

Amazingly, the crew there have donated a conference room which we will fill with businesses who either promote themselves through Twitter (as the Radisson does - @RadissonBrussel) or are connected in some way with social networking/new media.

Possible organisations could be online foodstuff sellers, a newspaper group, a social hub, a provider of hardware or even a software business.

We hope to have some interesting speakers for you to listen to, also, as you walk around the fair. There will be full, free wi-fi throughout the event, so you can Tweet to your heart's content.

After the fair

At this point in time, it looks as though the fair will run from 3-7.30pm on Thursday 24 March after which all attendees will be invited to join us for drinks and snacks at the newly opened Six Nations Pub (details to be finalised).

This bar opens on Saturday 5 March and you can get more details on their Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/#!/sixnationspub. They are also on Twitter @sixnationspub.

During our time at this bar, it is hoped that a certain amount of beer and food will be available free to ticket holders. There will also be a raffle held before 10.30pm.

After our time at Six Nations (10.30pm), Twestival folk will then be invited to cross the street (20 metres) to a new two-storey bar and DJ venue called Roosters. As with the previous bar, your ticket will entitle you to a free drink (a cocktail in this case).

In a very cool way, BRUTwestival-goers will be among the first to set foot in these two prime downtown venues.

Important info

The Twestival team is currently putting together a business and sponsorship plan which will be available by the weekend. Should anybody want a copy, or has any queries at all, just email coordinator Tony at tony.mallett@gmail.com. My phone number is 0472 280 878.

Ticket details will be firmed up soon, so look out for announcements @BRUTwestival and @upfrontbrussels. One thing is certain, the tickets will cover entry to all events and include 'extras' in the two bars. Turn up for all three or just one, it's up to you!

Incidentally, there will also be refereshments available at the Radisson, purchasable direct from the hotel in this case.

So what can YOU do?

Aside from turning up on the day/night, please spread the word to friends, family and fellow Twitter users everywhere as well as to ANY Brussels businesses who use Twitter or could benefit by connection with the Twestival.

Ideally, these messages should include either @BRUTwestival, @upfrontbrussels or both, so we can get a reference and follow it up.

Many thanks - and let's have a cracking event!

All the best

The Twestival team
